Free milk tea at 100 cha chaan tengs

Black & White's milk tea month

To mark its 85th anniversary, Black & White is giving away free cups of Hong Kong-style milk tea at 100 cha chaan tengs across Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the New Territories: 10,000 cups in all.

Each cha chaan teng gives away on one weekday only, from its own start time between 9:30 am and 3:15 pm. It's one cup per person, first come, first served, while stocks last.

Milk tea's big dates

Usually in August

The Kam Cha King milk tea competition

Run by the Association of Coffee and Tea of Hong Kong since 2009, it's where milk tea makers compete to be named 金茶王, "Kam Cha King". Its Hong Kong final has been held at the Hong Kong International Tea Fair, most recently on 14 August 2026. Dates for 2027 haven't been announced.

Hong Kong International Tea Fair

The Trade Development Council's tea fair, at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. It's mainly for the tea trade; the public Food Expo runs alongside it. Check the fair's page for who can visit.
